Climate activists – this year’s hot appointment?
Germany has appointed Jennifer Morgan, former executive director of Greenpeace International, as its global climate envoy, according to Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock of the Greens party. Morgan takes up the post on 1 March and has said she will use her experience to support and implement the country's climate goals, as well as those of the EU and the international community.

California’s Equinix has partnered with Bloom Energy and Virtual Power Systems, among others, to test technologies supporting environmentally sustainable data centres. Equinix will conduct the trials at its first co-innovation facility near Washington DC, where modular fuel cell and high-density liquid cooling systems will be assessed in collaborations with the various partners.

McDonald’s UK & Ireland has rolled out a new-build restaurant in Shropshire, which it claims is its first to meet net-zero carbon regulations in its construction and operations.
