How hotel brands can show gratitude in a period of social distancing
A pandemic could bring the world to its knees and affect the hospitality, tourism, and restaurant/food service industries, as we have seen with COVID-19. Before such situations, we could travel to any place of our choice anytime without any restrictions. But things changed as guidelines were in place to ensure that the virus did not spread. Social distancing measures were in place, and people had to either follow the rules or stay at home.

Crossing the chasm: A journey to commercialisation in MedTech
Geoffrey Moore’s seminal 1991 book, Crossing the Chasm, has been a go-to source for technology entrepreneurs looking to take a product to the mass market. Moore argues technology products do not follow a gentle path from early adopters to the majority, but must cross a chasm between the two.

Diversity creates value: this applies to the VC industry too, and we are on a mission to prove it
Diversity is finally at the forefront of corporate decision-making, with discussions spanning from genuine inspirations to create a more inclusive society, to politically correct opportunism. Diversity is a defining value of Elaia: we don’t approach it as just a palette of skin colours or accents or religious beliefs, but first and foremost as a richness of opinions and thought processes necessary to challenge the status quo. As such, we try to build our team - within of course the respect of our mission and values -, with diversity as a core tenet.

Collaboration between VC and business angels
In September 2020 Pitchbook published an insightful research on the role of angel investments in the startup ecosystem. It is quite clear from the research that not only business angels are essential for early stage financing, but they also make a positive contribution to the long-term startup success. The probability to raise follow-on rounds appears to be materially higher for companies whose first investment came from angels.
