If you're a regular Maddyness reader, you already know: AI is a topic we've been exploring for quite some time. That interest took shape earlier this year with the launch of our dedicated Maddyness IA platform in February, followed by our flagship event, MKIA, held on April 29 at Salle Gaveau in Paris. So, it only made sense to offer our readers an enhanced experience powered by generative AI.
Maddyness is therefore announcing a strategic partnership with Perplexity, a U.S.-based company specializing in AI-enhanced search engines. Perplexity enables advanced natural language searches, eliminating the need to sift through dozens of links. The tool provides direct answers to users’ questions and, importantly, cites its sources to reduce the risk of hallucinations.
AI now powering Maddyness search
As part of this partnership, Maddyness articles have been integrated into Perplexity’s system since last month. This means the AI can draw from our content to provide the most relevant answers — always linking back to our site. In this context, Maddyness and Perplexity also share advertising revenue — a promising development for media outlets seeking new ways to fund independent, high-quality journalism.
But the partnership doesn’t stop there. Thanks to the Sonar API, Maddyness is also transforming its own search engine. Readers can now ask questions directly in our site’s search bar and receive AI-generated answers based solely on content produced by our editorial team. This feature will be tested and improved progressively based on your usage.
Lastly, a new addition will soon appear on our site: Perplexity will enable the display of related content and personalized suggestions at the bottom of each article.
Through this partnership, we continue to explore the possibilities of AI and its impact on media. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on our future experiments. Got ideas? Feel free to share them with us [here]. And we’ll see you next year to continue the conversation at the next Maddy Keynote!
