Google hooked 14 robot arms together so they can help each other learn
Researchers at Google are trying to help robots navigate the world as well as humans can, and that means a lot of practice. Research scientist Sergey Levine and his team took fourteen robotic arms, networked them together, and used convolutional neural networks to let these robots learn on their own how to pick up small objects like a cup, tape dispenser, and neon-green toy dolphin.

Silicon Valley’s Exodus Begins
The past few years have seen a sort of entrepreneurial utopia bloom in Silicon Valley. Young kids with big ideas moved to the Bay Area, where they were handed millions of dollars hand over fist by zealous venture capitalists anxious to fund the next Facebook or the next Uber. But recently, there’s been trouble in paradise. The venture-capital funding is slowing down. Start-ups are raising and exiting in down rounds. Investors’ confidence seems to have been shaken. Mega-rounds have declined, and companies have startedlaying off employees.

Chiffrement : le conflit Apple versus FBI fait bouger les lignes en France

Uber Actually Makes Public Transit Better, But Mostly for the Rich
Conventional wisdom says ride sharing services like Uber undermine public transit. After all, why sweat it out in the subway when, for a few extra bucks, you can be driven around in luxury? But a new report finds the more people use shared modes of travel like bike and ride sharing, the more likely it is they use public transit. Not only that—shared services make passengers healthier, reduce the need for car ownership, and “complement public transit, enhancing urban mobility.”
